Grand Canyon National Park Arizona: This National park is located in the
state of Arizona in the southwestern region of USA and the park is UNESCO World Heritage site.
Grand Canyon is a gorge formed by Colorado River and is considered to be one of the seven
natural wonders of the World. It is spread over an area of 1,217,262 acres of land. Phoenix is the
largest international airport near the park besides others like Tucson International, Mesa, Yuma,
Prescott, Flagstaff Pulliam and Grand Canyon National Park. A light railway line in Phoenix
connects nearby cities of Mesa and Tempe.
Getting around: Free shuttle buses operated in and around the South Rim from mid May to mid
September. During this period also available is scheduled shuttle service between the North and
the South Rims besides other facilities. Personal or rental auto may be used especially to visit the
North Rim subject to road closures etc. Tour buses ply from Las Vegas to certain section of the
park. Grand Canyon Railway operated between Williams to Grand Canyon Village.
Tourist seasons: High tourist season June to August, shoulder March to May and low season is
from September to February.
