Austria, a landlocked country in Central Europe lying within the Alps, is a mountainous country

point is at about 3798 meters (12461 feet) above the sea level. Once it was a part of the Holy
Roman Empire and occupied, during pre-Roman times, by Celtic tribes. Now it is a parliamentary
representative democracy, part of the Schengen countries and one of the richest countries in the
world. Besides being a developed country with high living standards, it is historically interesting
for the visiting tourists. It is popular with the tourists for its historic cities, villages, variety of flora
and fauna, winter sports, skiing, hiking and the magnificent scenery of the Alps. Vienna is the
capital city, the largest city and an international airport besides a few others with commercial
flights all over the country.
